Liz Sieh - CEO/Founder
Raised in PG County, Maryland, Liz's love for sneakers has been a lifelong passion. The diverse styles, textures, and colorways of sneakers have always allowed her to express herself through footwear. In the midst of global turmoil and personal loss during the COVID-19 pandemic, Liz found solace in her growing passion for footwear.
Venturing into hand-painting sneakers sparked a passion for craftsmanship in her, leading her to further hone her skills at the Shoe Surgeon Academy in November 2020. Balancing a full-time IT job, Liz dedicated her free time over the next two years to working on footwear as a hobby. In 2022, she decided to expand her expertise in traditional footwear techniques by immersing herself in an intensive one-year footwear design and development program in Milan, Italy.
"Creating has been a wonderful escape for me. My drive has always been to preserve the essence of the people and things I hold dear through my ideas. It serves as a constant reminder that they are always present with us."
"In my upbringing within a Liberian household, the richness of our culture surrounded me constantly. The colorful hand-sewn attire and the detailed fabrics used in each piece all contributed to my appreciation for traditional footwear techniques right from the start. After a trip back home to Liberia in 2021 and meeting a local cordwainer, I realized how innovative his techniques were. This awareness greatly influenced my decision to seek additional education in Italy, with the goal of learning in a traditional manner – starting from concept to execution."
Upon her return home in the summer of 2023, Liz worked to establish EZ Collectives as a vibrant social hub for boundless creativity. Her custom designs heavily feature various aspects of footwear creation, including hand-painting, hand-stitching, sewing, sketching, pattern development, and more. A MESSAGE FROM LIZ:
"I embarked on this journey with a blend of emotions, unsure of what the future would bring in the days, weeks, and months ahead. Along the way, I found inspiration from renowned footwear designers, motivating me to inspire others in a similar fashion. I discovered a way to turn my challenges into enthusiasm, aiming to motivate others whenever I create. To all who read this, aim higher than before and continue pushing yourself. If you encounter obstacles, pursue what brings you joy and commit yourself wholeheartedly to it. Transform your pain into passion and always remember, anything is possible."
